The NECEC Institute today launched CleanzoNE, a new social networking site designed to connect and grow early-stage, cleantech innovations across New England. This announcement comes after a year of profound expansion and growth for the NECEC Institute, formerly known as the New England Clean Energy Foundation, in its focus areas of Innovation, Workforce Development, and Segment Development. The NECEC Institute, a 501(c)(3), is the sister organization of the New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC, a 501(c)(6) trade member organization.)

CleanzoNE is part of the Institute’s Cleantech Innovations New England program, which has achieved a number of recent milestones, including the announcement of hundreds of thousands of dollars in awards to cleantech startups. CleanzoNE allows the many diverse members of the New England cleantech community to form relationships regardless of location, providing new opportunities to accelerate the most promising cleantech innovations to commercialization.

“The NECEC Institute delivers programs that provide unique region-wide support for increasing the reach and visibility of entrepreneurs across New England. Vermont is a proud supporter of the NECEC Institute and we are very impressed with the impact they have had in supporting New England entrepreneurial endeavors over the past year through the Cleantech Innovations New England program,” said Lawrence Miller, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development.

The NECEC Institute’s Workforce Development program collaborates with a number of regional stakeholders to develop a world-class clean energy workforce in New England. The Institute’s newly launched Segment Development program leads segment-specific projects to analyze barriers and develop recommendations for market segment growth; current projects include an Offshore Wind Task Force and a partnership with the Boston Green Ribbon Commission to connect the corporate sustainability market with emerging building energy innovations.
